Extract Logs from Multiple Headsets Without Wifi

This step-by-step guide describes the process for uploading Quest 2 log files (collected from multiple headsets) to a PC for later wifi upload to the cloud.

Objectives for this method of uploading logs:

• Collect logs in the absence of wifi.

• Eliminate the need to physically transport multiple devices to an area with a wifi connection. Instead, only one device (a PC laptop, in this instance) must connect to wifi later.

• This article explains how to download all logs onto a PC, where they will automatically be uploaded to our cloud portal. Note: The Microsoft desktop version of our app must be installed.

Steps:

1. Capture session log data that is stored on the headset by first connecting the Quest 2 to a PC. Use a standard USB type A to USB type C cord. You can also use USB-C to USB-C if your PC has a USB-C connection. Note: Make sure that the headset is powered on. After connecting the headset to the PC, briefly put on the headset (while connected) and allow the PC to see headset files by clicking “allow” with a controller. This option will automatically be prompted by the PC connection.

   

2. Access your PC drives by going to “This PC” app (formerly “My Computer”).

   

3. Locate and click on the “Quest 2” device

   

    

4. Click on “internal shared storage”

   

    

5. Click on the “mothflame” folder

6. Click on the “Assessments” folder

7. Locate all logs (JSON files) located within the “Assessments” folder.

8. Select a location to create a folder to contain the log files. As a best practice, it would be advisable to date this folder with today’s date.

9. Select all files in the “Assessment” folder and transfer them to the logs folder. Do not leave any logs behind in the VR device. Once they’ve been transferred to the folder, make sure to delete them from each Quest 2. Note: Do not click or move any files within the “Complete” or “Corrupted” folders.

10. Repeat steps 1-9 for each headset with session log data. Note: This assumes that headsets are not connected to wifi. After you have downloaded all log files from all headsets, copy the log files to the “Assessments” folder of the Windows “VRConversation” download. You can do this by navigating to Downloads > vrconversation_0.10.3.375_win > vrconversation_0.10.3.375-win > Assessments Note: Keep the logs folder and all log files within the folder on the PC. This will serve as a file backup.

     

    The following steps are to be completed at a location with wifi:

1. Once you’re in a place with wifi, log in to Moth and Flame on a device that does not contain the logs and record the existing session counts for all active classes.
2. Connect the PC that contains the aggregated logs to wifi. Open the Microsoft Desktop version of our conversation experience. All logs contained within the Assessments folder will automatically be sent to the cloud when the application quits.
3. Verify the session count has increased in the class performance pages. All set!
